Scene Study with Penny Harpman (6 weeks)

Date: Sundays 26th May – 30th June

Time: 2-5pm

Fee: $504

Join award-winning theatre director Penny Harpham over a six week Masterclass series studying, analyzing and performing a selection of texts you don’t often find on the shelves of bookstores – the great catalogue of female playwriting.

What is the female canon? What does it look like? Who has written it? Who are our foremothers of theatre? Where does the lineage of great female writers start and who is leading the charge now?

Study the texts of Lynn Nottage, Patricia Cornelius, Leah Purcell, Jenny Kemp, Michelle Lee, Caryl Churchill, Nakkiah Lui and others.

Come dip your toes into the deep well of alternative offers that women have been making to the canon for decades. Leave inspired to challenge the inherited canon and your usual text choices as an actor and audience member. Be stretched and challenged as an actor whilst working with Green Room Award winning director Harpham during this unique and vital scene study course for any actor working today.
