Course Description

APS offers private lessons in singing, acting and audition technique to those who need specific one-on-one guidance.

Private tuition is generally not recommended for beginners, as we feel that a class environment is a much better overall experience, focussing on various aspects of acting including interacting with other actors.

However, it’s certainly an ideal and valuable tool when you need a little additional training prior to a performance, exam or an audition.

We have several highly qualified and experienced tutors who each have their strengths and areas of expertise.

For those interested in private tuition, we will communicate with you to determine what you wish to achieve, then based on the information provided, we will then match you with the tutor best suited to you and your needs. Most of our private lessons are held in our Moorabbin Studio, however we may be able to accommodate lessons in Brunswick or Ringwood if necessary. The time and location can be worked out mutually between you and the tutor to find something that works.

The cost of a 1 hour private tuition session (during business hours) in our Moorabbin is $80.

Additional charges may apply for private tuition in Brunswick or Ringwood, or for evening/weekend sessions.

Individual lessons can be beneficial for voices of all ages and all skill levels, whether you are a beginner or a professional. Learn a repertoire of songs or prepare for a specific audition in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Our lessons are designed to encourage a good understanding of technique, create vocal freedom and maintain stamina. We teach vocal health whilst creating the individual’s unique voice and keeping the singing enjoyable.

During the sessions students are first guided through a 10 lesson program, irrespective of singing ability. These initial lessons give the student a strong foundation in to how the singing voice works.

These modules include:

  • The Power Supply & Axial Alignment
  • The Source
  • Pitch Change
  • Visualisation
  • Nasality
  • Vocal Tracking
  • The Modifiers & Articulation
  • Onsets
  • Flexibility
  • Mixed/Full Belt & Extending the Range

Once the 10 modules are complete the lessons are then tailored to the individual in order to achieve the best voice possible.

No two singers are the same. Everyone has a unique voice and we believe every voice should be heard. We believe singing should be fun and encouraged and that students should be in a nurtured and comfortable environment to promote confidence.

Please contact APS for hourly and half hourly rates or to make a booking.
