Course Description

Learn and prepare scripts one week, rehearse and film the next, in this dynamic acting for camera course. Suitable for students new to acting through to the more advanced working actor wishing to stay primed. Throughout each term students will explore a range of skills including script analysis, character development, skills for screen tests and camera technique. Students can collect their scenes on USB to take home and analyse at any time. Our highly experienced tutors (all professional working actors and/or film-makers) support the training with expert advice and tips, whilst encouraging students to be the very best they can be. Each of our drama / screen acting classes work on a short film throughout the year. Supported by their tutor, the students will contribute to developing the script and characters, assist in the film-making process, and of course each have an on-screen role in their short film. The short films are then screened at a cinema later in the year as part of our annual “APS Short Film Festival”, and will also be available for viewing on our YouTube channel. The films are all judged by a panel of experts from APS for consideration in our Short Film Festival Awards (held at the end of the year) where nominees are awarded certificates and winners are awarded trophies.
